Unable To Print to Epson Dot Matrix Printers After Windows Updates

November 16, 2017

I received a call from some colleagues today claiming that their Epson Dot Matrix printers suddenly unable to print. Went down to troubleshoot, tried uninstall and reinstall printer driver, change printer port, replace printer cable and so on but still unable to print. Ends up, tried install an older version driver but some work and some don't ! And finally, did a system restore by selecting a restore point before the last Windows Update and bingo ! All back to normal. So, confirmed something wrong with the last Microsoft Update pushed via WSUS.

Printers that are not working after the updates are:
Epson LQ-300
Epson LQ-300+ II
Epson LQ2180
Epson LQ2190

Windows Updates have been issued for Windows 7, 8 and 10 and they are all having the same issue.

November 21, 2017—KB4055038
This update addresses an issue that prevents some Epson SIDM (Dot Matrix) and TM (POS) printers from printing on x86-based and x64-based systems.

This is really annoying.

Here, I would like to share with you 2 great website that allows you to convert more than 330 combinations of input and output file formats online without the hassle to download and install the conversation software to your computer.

1) http://convertfiles.com.
2) http://www.zamzar.com.

Both website have made file conversation so easy.

For Convertfiles.com
What you have to do is just click on the browse button from the "Choose a local file" option, select the file to be convert from your local directory, select the format you want it to be converted from the drop down of the "Output Format" option follow by clicking on the "Convert" Option and here it goes.

Immediately after you have click on the "Convert" button, a status bar will appear prompting you the percentage of the file upload and once upload completed, the webpage will prompt you a message:

"Please download your converted file: http://dw4.convertfiles.com/files/0243527001315990857/xxxxx.xxx
(If you have trouble downloading this file, try "right-clicking" on the link and selecting "Save Link As" or "Save Target As".)"

To view the file, just click on the link and the file will be open for viewing, and to save the file, right click on the link and Save it to your local drive.
